Nicholas Evennett

Surgeon

Qualifications:

MD MBChB BHB PgCertHE FRACS FAANZGOSA

Biography

I am a New Zealand-trained Upper Gastrointestinal and Bariatric Surgeon with a particular focus on complex, revision, and minimally invasive surgery. I practise privately at Laparoscopy Auckland, and also hold a public consultant appointment at Auckland City Hospital, New Zealand’s principal tertiary and quaternary referral centre.

My surgical training includes extensive experience in advanced laparoscopic and bariatric procedures, as well as complex upper GI surgery. After completing my specialist surgical training and FRACS, I undertook further post-fellowship training in Upper GI and Bariatric Surgery in New Zealand and Australia, including advanced minimally invasive oesophageal surgery. I was subsequently involved in helping introduce minimally invasive oesophagectomy techniques to New Zealand practice.

Alongside clinical work, I have a strong academic background, having completed a Doctor of Medicine (MD) overseas, and remain actively involved in surgical education and mentoring.

In my private practice, I aim to provide careful assessment, clear communication, and high-quality minimally invasive surgery, tailored to each patient’s individual needs, with close attention to safety, outcomes, and long-term follow-up.
