Surgeon
MBChB (Auckland) MMedSc FRACS (General Surgery) FAANZGOSA
I am a New Zealand trained general surgeon specialising in upper gastrointestinal, bariatric, and advanced laparoscopic surgery. I am a consultant surgeon at North Shore Hospital and works in private practice.
Following advanced training in general surgery, I completed subspecialist fellowship training through the Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand Gastric and Oesophageal Surgery Association (AANZGOSA), undertaking three years of high-volume upper gastrointestinal and bariatric surgery across Australia and New Zealand.
I have extensive expertise in minimally invasive surgery for gastro-oesophageal cancer, complex and revisional anti-reflux surgery, large and recurrent hiatus hernia repair, and the surgical management of obesity, including revisional bariatric procedures. I have a particular interest in caring for patients with persistent reflux symptoms and complications following previous surgery, with a strong focus on durable symptom control and improved quality of life.
I am currently the only surgeon in New Zealand offering the full range of internationally recognised bariatric procedures, allowing treatment to be carefully tailored to each patient’s individual needs and goals.
Alongside my clinical work, I am actively involved in research and in the training of surgical registrars and fellows in advanced upper gastrointestinal, bariatric, and anti-reflux surgery.
